Federal agents served search warrants Tuesday morning at a mansion in Beverly Hills. The property is connected to billionaire businessman Stephen Cloobeck. Officials did not immediately reveal the specific focus of the investigation.
Cloobeck surrendered to authorities earlier this year. He faces three felony counts for attempting to dissuade witnesses. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office also charged him with one misdemeanor count for making annoying telephone calls. The criminal complaint details these allegations from April.
Law enforcement sources identified the targets of the calls as witnesses or victims in the prosecution of Cloobeck's fiancée, Adva Lavie. Lavie is a model and social media influencer who goes by the online name Mia Ventura. She was charged in November 2025 with eight felonies. Those charges accuse her of stealing from men she met online through home burglaries or misuse of personal information.
Cloobeck previously backed the gubernatorial campaign of former U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell. The Democratic congressman stepped down from his House seat and the governor's race earlier this year following sexual misconduct allegations. Swalwell has denied those accusations.
The FBI searched Swalwell's home in Washington, D.C., in August. Agents seized an electronic device during that raid. They also executed a search warrant at San Francisco International Airport that same month to take Swalwell's electronic devices. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's sex crimes unit is currently weighing whether to bring charges in a case involving Swalwell.
