Federal agents arrived at a mansion on North Roxbury Drive in Beverly Hills on Tuesday morning to execute a search warrant. The property is linked to Stephen Cloobeck, a millionaire entrepreneur. A yellow caution tape cordoned off the front of the residence while multiple FBI officers worked on the scene. Footage from outside the home showed the agents securing the area. No details regarding the specific nature of the investigation were released immediately.
An FBI spokesperson confirmed to NBC News that agents were carrying out a sealed search warrant. Sources familiar with the matter told the station that officers did not expect to make arrests at the location on Tuesday. The search added to recent federal activity connected to Cloobeck and his former political ally, former U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell.
Cloobeck had previously supported Swalwell’s campaign for governor before allegations of sexual misconduct emerged against the Democrat. Early this year, Cloobeck turned himself to authorities after being accused of attempting to dissuade witnesses from testifying in a criminal case against his ex-fiancée. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged him in April with three felony counts of witness tampering and one misdemeanor count of making harassing phone calls. Police sources confirmed that the recipients of the alleged calls were witnesses or victims in the case against Cloobeck’s ex-fiancée, model and influencer Adva Lavie.
Lavie, known online as Mia Ventura, faces eight felony counts after being accused in November 2025 of stealing from men she met on the internet. A judge dismissed two of those charges during a preliminary hearing. In April, Lavie pleaded not guilty to the six remaining counts. It is not yet clear if the Tuesday search in Beverly Hills relates to the Lavie case or the Swalwell investigation. Authorities are currently seeking more details.
Swalwell withdrew from the governor’s race and resigned from his congressional seat after the misconduct allegations surfaced earlier this year. He has denied the accusations. Cloobeck withdrew his support for Swalwell in April and stated that Swalwell had stayed with him in his Los Angeles-area home. In August, the FBI searched Swalwell’s home in Washington, D.C., and seized an electronic device. That same month, agents also searched Swalwell’s belongings at San Francisco International Airport and collected electronic devices.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s sexual offenses unit is currently evaluating whether to file charges in a case involving Swalwell. The former representative was a favorite in the gubernatorial primary before his exit. His departure opened the field for other Democratic candidates, including former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra. Becerra will face Republican Steve Hilton in the general election scheduled for November 3.
